‘What if shopping was made into more of an experience to celebrate a place’s iconism, culture and heritage through modern adaptation of its past.Imagine yourself walking down the chaotic bazaar streets of Istanbul, coming across a florist and being offered a beautiful bouquet of tulips- a kind gesture, a simple flower, a moment. what is a place, if not the manifestation of its memories?’ Tulip once celebrated as a symbol of prosperity , today holds values of love and kindness. The design is a derivation of the strong cultural and historic significance of Turkey represented by the Tulip flower, which also is the national flower of the country ; enabling relatability and a more sensitive response to the context. As the name of the project suggests, the proposal is made up of 2 main components. The Blossoming component = Tulip & the holding component = the space frame roof. The roof projects towards the extents of the site and is anchored at the center, forming a tree like structure. Hanging on the roof are the architectural bio-mimiced adaptation of the tulip buds , that are made up of 3 skins that bloom to differenttextents at different times, for different needs, and thereby celebrate the experience of shopping creating an aura of a traditional Carnival.
